Event description

Description

This event is specifically designed for the athlete or sportsman/woman who may have concerns regarding their heart. This event will be an educational session for a target audience of national or international calibre endurance athletes.

The aim is to create an educational and entertaining session with two-way participation in a relaxed informal environment. We plan an interactive forum regarding aspects of sports cardiology including cardiac physiology, training regimes, research programmes and clinical cases. The latest cutting-edge techniques for evaluation of the athlete will also be discussed.

Two talks by Associate Professor Andre La Gerche, Head, Head of Sports Cardiology at The Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute.

  • IRONMAN dies suddenly, is exercise the cause?
  • What should a middle-aged person do to minimise the risk of heart attack?

COST: $25

Talks will be followed by refreshments.
