The National Refugee led Advisory and Advocacy Group (NRAAG) is a refugee led entity that envisions to create spaces, platforms and strong voices led by former refugees, people from refugee like backgrounds and people seeking asylum in key decision making tables, public & media discourse. NRAAG's aims to inform key policies, service delivery, campaigns, research, and key initiatives affecting the lives of its constituents with a range of partners and allies.
NRAAG is hosting its first signature Australian Refugee Dialogue 2020 for people of refugee backgrounds and people seeking asylum which aims to bring national refugee voices together for meaningful change.
This Interactive dialogue aims to unpack the complexity of outcome focused refugee led voices in decision making at national, state and local levels with NGOs, Service Providers, Government departments at various levels. It will explore issues and themes on models of accountability, transparency and legitimacy of representation to enable a strategic direction for the future of refugee led advocacy.
This dialogue further aims to work and collaborate with refugees, former refugees and people seeking asylum on an Australian Refugee Pledge that will serve to embed meaningful refugee participation at various levels. This pledge will aim to strengthen collaboration and create spaces for refugee agency by way of drawing measured commitments from signatories and practical actionable steps from stakeholders to include refugees in decision making, co-designing and collaborating to ensure that they have an active, effective, and relevant role in the refugee response services and policies at various levels.
NRAAG is taking this opportune time to host its first national dialogue to draw on the value of former refugees, refugees, people seeking asylum attending the annual conference of Refugee Council of Australia. With a view of enabling and supporting this initiative, NRAAG welcomes any support from stakeholders including service providers, individuals, advocacy organisations and other allies.
