Workshop 1: 5:00pm to 5:55pm

Instructor: Maple Rose (Melbourne)

Name of Class: "Charleston 101"

Class Description: We’ve made it to 2020, so let’s celebrate in style!

The Roaring Twenties were the bee’s needs, when flappers glugged down giggle water, and Jazz clubs were the cat’s pyjamas. Step back into the prohibition era with Maple Rose and unleash your inner flapper. Maple has been teaching the Charleston at Maison Burlesque for over 2 years, and loves watching that “ah-ha!” moment spark in her student’s eyes. This high energy workshop will rid you of 2 left feet as we learn the basic dance steps of the famous Charleston within a short routine.

What to bring: Wear dance clothes, flat dance shoes/sneakers, a water bottle and possibly a towel for those sweaty foreheads.

Level: This workshop is suitable for all genders and experience levels keen to raise their heartbeat.

Workshop 2: 6:00pm to 6:55pm

Instructor: Kiki DeVille (UK)

Name of Class: So you think you can host?

Class Description: Compering is a lot more difficult than people make out. You are the glue that holds the show together, responsible for keeping the audience engaged the whole time, and most importantly, the person who brings on each and every performer with an introduction that makes the audience fall in love with them before they go onstage.

It’s not just “Ladies and Gentlemen” (oh and it shouldn’t be because that’s no very inclusive!)

Kiki DeVille is one of Europe’s best know comperes and brings to this workshop over 10 years of hosting know how, with tips and tricks to help you become the host you want to be.

What to bring/wear: Notepad and pen. Wear something comfortable.

Level: All levels

Workshop 3: 7:00pm to 7:55pm

Instructor: Sapphire Snow (Adelaide)

Name of Class: Solo Blues Movement for Burlesque

Class Description: In this workshop, Sapphire will combine classic burlesque bump and grind with the sultry and powerful movement of solo blues dancing. Learn to create a flow throughout your movement on stage, whilst still enjoying moments of stillness and hitting accents in your music.

This will be a workout for your legs and core.

What to bring/wear: Comfortable, stretchy clothing. Bare feet or low heels are recommended (no stilettos).

Level: All levels. (Might be challenging for people with knee problems due to slow and low movements).
