THE BOOK
The Ashgate Research Companion to Planning and Culture is a world first as a scholarly publication mapping the relationship between planning and culture in interdisciplinary and global terms. Containing some twenty-seven new chapters by world thought leaders, the book shows how culture influences planning and how culture can be mobilised to achieve better planning. Contributions are from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and North America. The book was conceptualised and edited in Australia and is a milestone in the increasing worldwide recognition of culture and cultural evidence as key components and drivers of sustainable planning. The Companion should stand as a landmark contribution from Australia to world planning culture and research.
