Event description

Description

Using traditional Tibetan drawing methods, the workshop will teach students the basics of Tibetan Art or ‘Thangka Painting’, focusing on the drawing of Buddha Shakyamuni.

Students will learn to draw the symbolic elements within Tibetan Art and gain an understanding of their meaning, offering an insightful immersion into the history and origins of Tibetan Art drawings.

Join Damien Pascoe at Glasshouse Mountains from 9am-4pm, Saturday 26 August. Damien has studied Tibetan art for well over six years. He studied mainly under his Western teacher, Andy Weber and also studied abroad at Tsering Art School at Shechen Monastery in Nepal, under the guidance of Ms Lachom Tsogyal.

He currently works to preserve Tibetan culture by holding regular Tibetan art workshops at Shang Shung Institute in locations across the world. With the preservation of Tibetan culture in mind, Damien now continues to develop contemporary Tibetan art in an attempt to engage a wider audience.
