THE ART OF SIVA SAMOA AND CREATIVE LEADERSHIP WORKSHOPS

Talofa Lava,

We warmly invite our Pasifika sisters to join us for an empowering 2 day workshop program exploring the Art of Siva Samoa and Creative Leadership. The workshops will be led by MARYJANE MCKIBBIN SCHWENKE, renowned Samoan International Dance Practitioner, Activist and Co-founder/Director of Sydney based MATAVAI Pacific Cultural Arts Centre.
She will be joined by her daughter MOEMOANA SCHWENKE, Polynesian Dancer, Siva Afi and strong advocate for promoting equality, environmental and cultural preservation.

This powerhouse mother and daughter team will share inter-generational perspectives on creative leadership and Samoan siva. Learn about the history of siva, the importance of storytelling, activism and how to communicate messages through dance. Workshop participants will also explore technique and technique coordination, drills, choreography development, as well as refining what you already know.

The sessions will draw on traditional and modern teachings. Tapping into the strengths and creativity of the participants, to further enhance their knowledge base, skills and cultural identity. Heaps of fun and laughter guaranteed!.

Notebooks and pens will be provided as well as light refreshments.
