Description:

By the end of the workshop you will be able to demonstrate knowledge on the fundamentals of scientific writing for journals. The main purpose of the session is to improve your understanding about how to write specific sections and paragraphs in a way that communicates more effectively to the general reader (based on my experience and understanding of conventions). The session will also aim to improve your understanding about how to submit a paper to a journal including the cover letter, manuscript requirements, authorship order, conflicts and other declarations etc.

Dr Evan Atlantis is Senior Research Fellow at Western Sydney University (WSU), and Visiting Research Fellow (honorary) at The University of Adelaide. He is a research leader with over 13 years’ professional experience in chronic conditions, psychological distress, and health promotion research based on randomised controlled trials, large observational studies, and systematic reviews. His current research is focused on specialist obesity services in public hospitals for people with clinically severe obesity and patient centred medical home models of primary care for people with chronic conditions. With over 50 publications in quality peer-reviewed journals (37 as first author). Evan has been one of several Chief/Investigator recipients of NHMRC and NSW Government grant funding (approximately $4.3 million).
