Event description
Magnificent mending that uses a simple running stitch, 'boro' adds colour, style and personality to just about anything.

About this Event

Like the war time tradition of 'make do and mend', boro was an accidental art form born out of necessity. Dating back to the Edo period when there was minimal trade and resources were scarce Japanese peasants turned mending into an art form.

Boroboro means something tattered or repaired.

In this workshop you will learn how a simple running stitch will allow you to rework, upcycle and renovate just about anything from a garment to a book cover or quilt. You will learn about repairing textiles through piercing, patching and stitching to extend its use.

BYO imagination and feel free to bring any projects you might like to try.

What is included?

All materials supplied - recycled fabric, scissors, cottons and needles.

Tea and coffee facilities.
