Venue: Building 3 Lions Community Hall,

East Gosford (entrance at the rear of the building)

Cheryl McCoy is a Central Coast Printmaker who studied at Newcastle Art School & was mentored by Leonard Matkevich (previous Head of Printmaking at the National Art School). Cheryl has been printmaking for well over a decade. Cheryl is skilled in a broad range of printmaking techniques including etching and relief work. She has been a finalist in the Gosford Art Prize on a number of occasions and was recently awarded the Aboriginal Artist Award 2022.

At this workshop you will learn about the versatility of aluminium as a printmaking matrix using BIG (hard & soft ground) and the process of open bite. There will be an opportunity to use colour, layering your plates where suitable and to explore the use of floating plates to facilitate different outcomes. You will each be supplied with a small pack that will include:

• 3 x A5 aluminium plates

• Aluminium for creating float plates

The Makers Studio will provide printing ink & tarlatan, contact film, various etching tools, soft ground & open bite materials & copper sulphate acid for use by participants. Two sheets of printmaking paper will be available for each participant.

Things for you to consider bringing:

• Ideas for images that will fit an A5 plate (consider how they might potentially work together as overlays)

• Etching tools (if you have them) that you like to use

• Chinagraph pencils, oil pastels, sharpies

• Your lunch
