Event description

Description

Join us for the most incisive round-up of the moments that made 2019.

Brexit dominated. Again. The Christchurch mosque massacre shocked New Zealand. Between trade wars, our Crown investigation and the Hong Kong protests, China was a constant presence in the news. Greta Thunberg’s solo climate strike became a worldwide phenomenon. And, well, Trump was Trump. Closer to home Morrison won and a polling debate erupted, George Pell lost his appeal, the AFP raided journalists and the Banking Royal Commission final report dropped. In Victoria, secret Informer 3838 turned into a very public affair, the collapse of SKM Recycling left councils buried, and voluntary euthanasia became legal. Turning to the back page, Australia retained the Ashes, Ash Barty hit number one and Israel Folau hit the headlines.

And that’s just a few of the events that made the headlines. As the year draws to a close, join our lineup of award-winning journalists as they reflect on the biggest stories of 2019 and look ahead to 2020. The Age Editor Alex Lavelle and co-host Tory Maguire National Editor are joined by a stellar panel, including:

John Silvester, Senior Crime Reporter
Adele Ferguson, Senior Business Columnist
Nick McKenzie, Investigative Journalist
Richard Baker, Investigative Journalist
Jewel Topsfield, Melbourne Editor
Caroline Wilson, AFL Columnist
