Overview

A two-day online professional development journey with TIPIAC learning about First Nations Education Pedagogies and the tools to embed them.

TIPIAC are thrilled to invite you to join us for The 8 Ways Roadmap: An Educator's Guide to Cultural Inclusivity.

This transformative two-day training is designed for educators and school leaders across Early Years Learning, Primary, and Secondary settings who are committed to embedding authentic First Nations perspectives into their teaching practice.

Across our two days together, we will delve into the rich tapestry of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander pedagogies, cultures, and histories, weaving traditional and contemporary ways of being, doing, and knowing into the fabric of today’s classrooms.

What we will explore together

• The foundational pillars of the 8 Ways Aboriginal Pedagogy, grounded in centuries of cultural knowledge
Storytelling, land-based learning, visual learning, community connections, and the relational ways our mob pass knowledge through generations
• The powerful teachings of Uncle Ernie Grant’s holistic framework, deepening our understanding of how environment, culture, and knowledge are interconnected
• Professor Martin Nakata’s Cultural Interface, helping educators understand where First Nations and Western knowledge systems meet, challenge, and enrich each other

Throughout the training, we will yarn, reflect, and practise culturally aligned strategies to support you in weaving First Nations perspectives, histories, and knowledge systems into curriculum in meaningful, safe, and grounded-in-Country ways.

Why this training matters

When we centre First Nations pedagogies, we create learning spaces where all students feel seen, valued, and connected. This approach strengthens relationships, deepens engagement, and honours the deep time knowledge held by the First Peoples of this land.

Your journey across the two days

This immersive program will empower you with:
• Practical tools for curriculum design and planning
• Strong cultural foundations to guide your teaching
• Confidence to embed First Nations content with integrity
• Inspiration to reimagine education in ways that honour Country, culture, and community

Prepare to engage, reflect, and transform your practice in ways that honour the past, enrich the present, and shape a future where First Nations cultures and knowledge systems are respected, upheld, and celebrated.

So come join the TIPIAC team on this learning journey. Together, we will walk towards a more inclusive educational future where every voice is heard and every young person can see themselves reflected in their learning.
