Sat. 6 May 2017, 10:00 am – 4:30 pm AEST
This Test Sites Workshop held in partnership with YIRRAMBOI First Nations Arts Festival is the second in a series for 2017. Please find further details of future workshops here.
This unique Test Sites x YIRRAMBOI workshop program is focussed on emerging artists and those already in or considering post-graduate study. Please complete the questions to request attendance in this workshop, and a member of the Public Art Team will be in touch to confirm your place. NOTE: Participant selection will be based on managing equal representation across emerging artists, those already in post-graduate study and those intending to take up post-graduate study.
Steven Rhall will consider ideas of the spatial and how this relates to a place – distinct to the confines of the art gallery. Working insitu at Testing Grounds, the workshop will explore the unique circumstances which inform our relationship to both place and modes of inhabitation and response.
Participants will both undertake considerations and employ experimental practices, drawing on Rhall’s artistic inquiry and the frameworks he uses to consider relationship and response to ‘space and place’. Participants will be asked to read supplied texts by Ann Marsh, Bruce Pascoe, and Boris Groys in preparation for site interrogations. These are based on ideas of performance, installation and the many narratives that underpin and inform our decisions as artists.
