More About the Tribe
FYI, this is NOT a school room! These regular recreational groups are for kids who love or want to explore the amazing world of creative writing and publishing without the pressure of grades!
These sessions will help budding young writers to develop their skills and meet like-minded friends their own age. They will find themselves engaging in interactive workshops and lively discussions on everything from books, authors, genres, publishing, self-esteem, turning imagination into inventiveness, the wider world, and, of course, writing technique.
The sessions, guided by an experienced and caring facilitator (who happens to be an awarded and multi-published author herself!), also focus on the work-shopping of individual works-in-progress, where applicable. Everyone is encouraged to engage in readings and friendly critiquing to help one another improve plot lines, dialogue and characters - and in doing this, the students gain confidence in their writing and improve their public speaking and performance skills.
The young writers are also visited by occasional special guest authors who provide unique workshops.
A highlight of this unique youth program is the end-of-year publication of an annual KSP anthology that features the best works from all students throughout the year. Young writers are involved in the editing, design and typesetting process and will help to choose a name for the anthology. There is nothing quite like seeing your name in print!
