Art Soiree with Julie Bradley
Thursdays > 6:00–8:30pm
Enjoy exploring drawing with the medium of ink -one of the oldest and most versatile materials used throughout art history.
In this six-week workshop we will make a series of images based on fashion photographs and experiment with various techniques and coloured inks.
Black and white brush drawings
This week we will be using a range of brushes to work quickly in a gestural manner.
Using sepia ink -wash and line
Create dramatic effects of light and shade using line and wash technique. We will also make a basic feather quill to experiment with.
Coloured ink combinations
Using a range of coloured inks complete a small series of colour drawings exploring colour combinations
Masking fluid block out drawings
Working with a masking fluid to provide areas of pure white we will be able to make various textures and patterns within our drawings.
Working on wet paper
Using a paper ground which is wet allows us to experiment with a free flowing effect of inks.
Putting it all together
Now that we have worked in with few different approaches complete your final drawing using a combination of your favourite drawing techniques.
