Event description

Description

What does the level crossing removal project of the future look like?

LXRA has a bold vision for how an accelerated use of technology can produce step-change improvements to enhance safety, improve resource availability, and reduce the cost of projects. The LXRA Research and Innovation team with the support of the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science Entrepreneurs’ Programme is looking to partner with industry to progress this vision.

LXRA is considering a series of pilot projects with large technology companies to address these challenges. Small and medium sized enterprises are also welcome to take advantage of this opportunity to investigate trial and deploy new and relevant technologies.

The purpose of this event is to identify technologies and solutions that can improve the delivery of LXRA projects, as well as the wider infrastructure construction industry. At this event you will have the opportunity to share your capabilities and collaboratively develop ideas and solutions with key stakeholders from LXRA, the Entrepreneurs’ Programme and large communications providers including Telstra, Orange, Optus, Schneider Electric, Transdev and Huawei.

Our focus for the day:

How can technology impact the construction of large infrastructure projects?

What does the smart, connected site look like?

The Challenge

How can technology provide teams with insights to improve delivery?

What technologies can be used to create a smart and connected infrastructure project?

The Event

Our Technology Hackathon will bring together people and ideas to explore the challenges of enhancing safety, improving resource availability, and reducing the cost of project delivery for the Level Crossing Removal Project by:

  • Capturing data more efficiently using technology
  • Improving how data is stored and shared across the program
  • Ensuring the right data is presented at the right time

Key Focus Areas

  • Construction site connectivity and communications efficiency
  • Disruption impacts and management at construction sites, urban centres and the wider precinct
  • Understanding the movement of people in and around site, and the impact on site safety and security
  • Plant efficiency and condition monitoring based on real-time and historical data

This is a free event hosted by the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science Entrepreneurs' Programme in collaboration with the Level Crossing Removal Authority.

This event is designed to benefit small and medium Australian businesses.
