Event description

Description

Want to learn how to talk with your students about gender equality, respectful relationships, and body image?

The facts are out there:

    • Australian women work an average of 66 extra days per year to earn the same amount as their male counterparts

    • Only 2% of new fathers take paternity leave

    • When asked to draw a scientist, less than 1% of school children drew a woman

    • Intimate partner violence is the leading cause of illness, disability, and death for women aged 15 to 44 years

We know young people want to talk about these issues – and so do you.

Chalk Circle is excited to announce the first Professional Development Event for secondary school educators in our 'Teaching Outside the Circle' Event Series. The workshop will demonstrate the importance of gender literacy and explore ways to create empowering and change-making conversations.

Highlights of the event include:

    • Plenary session with Michelle Noon – academic, educator and Chalk Circle co-founder

    • Workshop breakout – a role reversal where teachers become the students

    • Planning breakout – dedicated time to plan classroom and whole-of-school approaches

    • ‘Ask us anything’ – a panel discussion with young people

    • Take-home package – a collation of resources from leading not-for-profits and health promotion agencies

We can’t wait to work with you! Find out more about us at our website http://www.chalkcircle.org/
