Event description

Description

Pocket money. Should you pay it to your kids or not?

Join lawyer, accountant, lecturer, mother-of-3 and founder of kidsmoneyhabits.com, Amy Koit, for a series of talks for parents and carers wanting to help their young kids become financially literate. We’ll explore the tools for teaching primary school aged kids about money and pinpoint daily opportunities where parents can apply the lessons.

In these 3 interactive sessions, find out what financial literacy means, the significance of chatting about money with kids, and how to introduce different money concepts at home. Participants are encouraged to come with questions and tips that have worked for them in helping to build their children’s financial literacy.

Earn
Thursday 5 April, 6-7pm

Explore what earning money means and the pros and cons of putting plans like pocket money and paid household chores into action. Share and brainstorm ideas for helping young kids earn their own money.

Save

Thursday 3 May, 6-7pm

Saving is more than putting away money to spend. Explore 2 notions of saving and how developing good habits is relevant in other aspects of life. Discuss types of goal setting and how to measure and motivate children in achieving them.

Spend

Thursday 7 June, 6-7pm

Kids are no strangers to seeing money spent, so the notion of teaching them to spend can be challenging. Discuss how to best educate them, and the difference between spending and using money.
