Event description

Description

We live in a 3D world but have historically taught from 2D textbooks and flat blackboards. Emerging technologies are enabling our classrooms to reach into the third dimension.

At this event you will hear teachers' experiences using 3D modelling and design programs, AR/VR systems, 3D scanning and printing systems in their classrooms and beyond.

Session 1: Thinking in 3D

Putting pedagogy first, teachers will present on how 3D thinking can develop student interest and understanding in their learning areas.

Session 2: Creating in 3D

There are a range of options for creating in 3D. Teachers will present their experiences working with students to designing 3D objects using programs (such as Tinkercad, Thingiverse, Blender, Sketch up and Inventor) as well as inputting scanning using 3D scanners. Attendees may wish to bring their devices, to explore with these options.

Session 3: Sharing in 3D

Once your students have created their 3D objects, how can we enable them to share them. Hear from teachers using 3D printers and other technologies for sharing 3D experiences. This will look at experiences and tips about a range of 3D printers.

Session 4: Playing in 3D

Open session for all attendees to explore the technologies and ideas shared in the presentation sessions. Participants and presenters are invited to bring in their 3D technologies to share and demonstrate with.
