Event description

Description

As an experienced clinician, you make good practice decisions quickly. This can be baffling to students, who can find it difficult to understand how you have decided on a course of action or treatment plan. From the outside, it appears intuitive, but it's not - you are making decisions based on your clinical reasoning. How do you pass on the benefits of your experience to students?

This session will be explore the concept of clinical reasoning and will aim to teach the concept of making our thinking visible. This session is suitable for clinicians who supervise students and/or new graduates. Content covered will include:

· Defining clinical reasoning and the different types

· Describe and exemplify the process of clinical reasoning to others

· Learn how to teach others how to clinically reason using different models/processes

· Explore the importance of reflection within clinical reasoning and learn skills to facilitate reflection in others

This training is for staff who are moving into supervisory or management roles and anyone who supervises students.
