Event description

Description

We wish to invite all interested teachers, executive school personnel, and school counsellors to attend the unveiling of a new resource designed to assist primary school teachers in supporting children with emerging social and emotional wellbeing concerns and / or challenging behaviours.

The resource we have created, entitled Every Child Matters: A teacher’s guide to optimising the social and emotional wellbeing of all primary-aged children is an electronic resource that has catalogued practical, evidence-based strategies (along with links to additional resources) that primary school teachers can implement in order to help support students who may have difficulties with:

  • listening to, and following adult instructions
  • adapting to, and dealing with, daily challenges
  • demonstrating prosocial behaviour
  • communicating effectively with others
  • regulating emotions
  • coping with separation

Our two hour seminar will provide a brief explanation of the evidence-base behind the resource, and provide a “how to” guide, on how to use and navigate the resource, and emphasise the importance of strengthening partnerships between teaching staff and school counsellors.

Attendees at the training will be invited to participate in a study about the usefulness of the resource (pending SERAP approval).

We look forward to welcoming you all to this special training event.
