Event description

Description

This summer we are celebrating the Tastes of Australia with a long table lunch under the Moreton Bay fig tree at Changing Habits Farm, located just outside of Maleny in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The focus will be on native Australian foods, with Indigenous chef Dale Chapman preparing the meal using local native ingredients grown on the Changing Habits Farm. Dale, who is a Kooma Yuwaalaraay woman from Dirranbandi in central Queensland, has a great passion for sharing her knowledge for local, native Australian food.

The Changing Habits Farm is a regenerative and sustainable farm with a holistic approach to managing livestock. Farm creators Cyndi and Howard O’Meara collaborate with Scott Robinson of Polyculture to create a landscape that supports sustainable, low maintenance food production, whilst ensuring a secure water supply, increased soil fertility and low fire risk. The farm supports a large number of indigenous plant species and is a wonder to explore.

Chef Dale will be creating a five course tapas menu infused with native Australian ingredients, with each course to be paired with a spectacular wine from Woongooroo Winery Estate and a taste of Sunshine Coast Cider.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Our long table lunches are casual events intended for adults with alcohol served. As a mark of respect for all our guests, and also because these occasions are lengthy, we ask that children do not attend. In order to ensure the Responsible Service of Alcohol requirements are adhered to, should you be so luck to look really young and you wish to consume alcohol we will ask for your ID to ensure you are of the required age.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Our catered long lunches include alcoholic beverages with appetisers on arrival, and wine pairings with the main courses. We take our duty of care in serving alcohol responsibly very seriously. Therefore we encourage you to arrange a designated driver or an alternative transport service to take you home safely.

Parking will be available on site. However if there is enough interest we will consider hiring a bus for transport to and from Maleny township for a minimal fee.

What can I bring into the event?

We encourage you to dress casually and comfortably, not only to match the time of year but also the selected venue. We will advise on appropriate items of clothing in our welcome kit - such as enclosed flat shoes suitable for uneven ground, a warm jacket, a hat and so on if we are dining at a working farm or an exposed area. As our lunches extend over four to five hours, cooler evenings can set in, so it is wise to come prepared for some vagaries in the weather.

Alcohol is not allowed to be brought into the event.
