Event description

Description

For just $5, try this new drop-in, taster workshop and learn some basic skills to start your own rag rug these winter school holidays! Drop in any time between 10:00am and 12:30pm and visit us in the Reverse Garbage Qld rag rug room.

We know adults love making rag rugs, but kids do too. It's tactile and fun to make something over the winter that you can use to warm up your home. Learn the simple skill of tying or hooking strips of fabric on a small square.

This is a lovely craft for creative kids and their carers to do together. Explore the different textures and colours of our salvaged textiles, practise threading and tieing knots.

Participants are welcome to bring their own cast-off t-shirts and scrap fabric to use in the workshop. Once you have completed your sampler square, you can purchase more materials or use your own leftover fabrics to complete your rug at home.

Children can help make a rag rug, make an animal or character with shaggy hair using textiles strips, or play in the loose parts zone.

Don't forget, adults without kids are welcome too!

Suitable for all ages (children under 7 years old must be accompanied by a guardian).

Read and see more on our website here.

You may also like to contribute a panel to our large community rag rug which will be donated to a local charity.
