Event description

Description

Run by the team behind Kakadu Cultural Tours and the Guluyambi Cruise, this exceptional excursion takes in three of the Kakadu region’s cultural and culinary highlights.

Itinerary

  • 2.00 pm – Guests are collected from Jabiru hotels and taken to the Guluyambi departure point at the East Alligator upstream boat ramp.
  • 3.00 pm – Guluyambi Cultural Cruise with a local Indigenous (Bininj) guide
  • 5.00 pm – On the completion of your cruise you’ll cross the river into Arnhem Land to the site known as Mawurndaddja. Guests will explore the site with an expert guide and enjoy the sunset with canapés.
  • 7.20 pm – After descending from the site, return to the Anbinik Restaurant in Jabiru for a three-course meal fusing Asian and Indigenous cuisines.
  • 9.20 pm – Guests not staying at Anbinik are dropped back to their Jabiru hotels.

Please note that clients require a reasonable level of fitness to climb to the Marwurndaddja rock art and occupation site.

Anbinik dinner menu

Entree

  • buffalo or tofu rice paper rolls with melaleuca leaves, salad, fresh herbs and a tamarind and Kakadu plum dipping sauce
  • homemade kangaroo jerky with bush tomato dipping sauce

Mains

  • steamed barramundi with melaleuca leaf, steamed vegetables and a ginger-sesame sauce
  • pan-fried barramundi with mixed vegetables and Kakadu plum. Served with lemongrass rice garnished with fresh herbs and roasted sesame
  • slow-cooked buffalo cooked in melaleuca leaf with carrot, sweet potato, native yams and fresh herbs. Served with turmeric rice
  • chilled tofu topped with Kakadu plum, sesame, soy sauce and shiitake mushrooms. Served with marinated bok choy and homegrown bean sprouts.

Drinks

  • wild hibiscus iced tea
  • melaleuca and honey iced tea

Desserts

  • wild hibiscus ice cream with ground nuts, honey and a waffle
  • vanilla ice cream with caramelised pear and apple in melaleuca
