What is TYC?

The Tasmanian Youth Conference (TYC) is a biannual event which celebrates and explores what it means to be a young person in Tasmania!  TYC is open to young Tasmanian aged between 12-25 years who are, or want to be, involved in their community.

What will the program be like?

TYC13 has a varied, exciting and enagaging program with speakers from around Australia, including experts in a range of fields, young people and workers. The program also offer a number of interactive workshops.

TYC13 will a have a varied, exciting and enagaging program with speakers from around Australia, including experts in a range of fields, young people and workers. The program will also offer a number of interactive workshops.

The TYC13 program highlights include::

  • the amazing singer/songwriter Asta
  • inspiring Young Tasmanian of the Year, Holly Barnewell
  • Cedrick Mulumba, Chair of the Australian Youth Forum
  • Barry Collis of DocuDrama fame
  • Mo of MoHow Consulting and youth sector legend
  • Jen Morris, from the Youth Disabilty Advocacy Service
  • Andrew Hughes, Tasmanian Australian of the Year and innovative educator


As well as presentations on drugs and alcohol, relationships, education, sexual health, edge radio, zine making, the professionalisation of the youth sector, youth ethics, mental health and much, much more.

TYC13 is open to both the sector and young people. We believe this format provides young people and workers with a great opportunity to come together to share experiences and ideas with each other.

How is TYC Possible?

TYC13 is organised by a committed Steering Committee made up of people from YNOT, TYF and a range of other organisations.  Young people are also involved in the Steering Committee so that TYC13 is relevant and interesting to them!  To find out how you can be involved in TYC13 contact YNOT via the details below.

Youth Network of Tasmania

The Youth Network of Tasmania is the peak body for the non government youth sector in Tasmania.

YNOT is the peak body for the non-government youth sector in Tasmania. It is funded by the Tasmanian Government to improve the Tasmanian community's response to youth issues by:

Involving young people and service providers in identifying and responding to youth issues;

Developing coordinating mechanisms across the youth sector; and providing advice to government and other agencies on youth issues.

YNOT also encompasses the Tasmanian Youth Forum (TYF) and the Tasmanian Youth Conference (TYC).
