Event description

Description

In this half day workshop you will join local bushfoods expert Kris Schaffer and be immersed in the world of Tasmanian edible natives.

During this morning workshop you will learn how to identify local edible natives, and about their cultural significance. Kris will tell you about respectful harvesting, and show you proper preparation of potentially poisonous plants.

A light lunch is included which will feature some of the bushfoods discussed, and will give you the chance to learn different preparation techniques and how you might include edible natives in your own cooking. We recommend you still bring some of your own snacks.

After lunch participants will be shown the 'Growing Respect Garden' on the grounds of the venue, featuring the bushfoods discussed, which will be installed by the the group participating in the same workshop a week prior. Discussion will focus on the special growing requirements of local natives and about the greater role of edible natives in Tasmania's diverse eco-system. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask Kris questions.

If you are looking for tickets after this date and they are sold out, please express your interest by emailing orders@sourcewholefoods.org.au. We're expecting tickets to sell out quickly, and may hold a another event at a later date.
