About this Event

On the Agenda?

“Yin Yoga is more than stretching”.

Take a fresh look at the role of yoga asana through a functional lens. Danielle Bendall, from Santosha Yoga Australia, will take us through the 7 Archetypal Poses that between them influence all of the musculoskeletal segments of the body. We will explore the impact of skeletal variation on range of movement, and the need for pose modifications and variations. We will dive a little deeper into one of the archetypes in an experiential yin practice.

Danielle will draw from her studies with Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers, two of the Yin Yoga pioneers.

Attendees will come away with a greater understanding of the role of the skeleton in whether or not a student can safely and effectively come into any given pose, and with greater confidence in providing suitable modifications and variations.

About the Presenter

Danielle Bendall has been teaching yoga since 2013 and practicing for nearly 20 years. She has studied with leading local and international teachers including Duncan Peak, Paul Grilley, Sarah Powers, Donna Farhi, Leslie Kaminoff and Lizzie Lasater.

Danielle takes a very functional approach to yoga: in other words, the focus is on what the pose is doing for you, and how it feels, rather than what it looks like. Danielle is passionate about making yoga accessible for all bodies, regardless of shape, size or age.

Danielle's classes are authentic, open and personal. She will help guide you to quieten the mind, tune in to the inner world, and bring the body, breath and mind into greater harmony.
