Event description
The fourth annual symposium for the Office of Sport’s innovative research partnership with the University of Sydney's SPRINTER group.

About this Event

SPRINTER’s deep understanding of the policy environment enables us to work effectively with our government partners to conduct policy-relevant research that informs decision making around physical activity and population health. It is a global and National priority to get more people, more active, every day. In partnership with policy makers at the Office of Sport NSW Government and Sport Australia, as well as strategic sector organisations, the SPRINTER group are tackling this critical agenda and will share world class evidence from the sport and active recreation sector.

This year’s symposium will explore the theme of proportionate universalism and celebrate the impact of SPRINTER’s contribution to research, policy and practice. To achieve this, a series of feature presentations will provide evidence updates from SPRINTER, an overview of the development of the whole-of-government Physical Activity Strategy in NSW and interim research findings from the NSW government universal Active Kids program. Targeted research tackling physical inactivity and the engagement of culturally and linguistically diverse communities will be showcased. Innovative ideas and everyday challenges from the sport and recreation sectors will be explored with a selection of SPRINTER partners.

The morning will allow for transparent and reflective discussions around SPRINTER's evolution, with presentations and networking providing a key forum for knowledge sharing. Attendees will be asked to engage in facilitated discussions on how we can reorient future practice towards equitable and sustainable environments that enable everyone to participate in sport and physical activity, everywhere, everyday.

Morning tea will be provided for symposium attendees.
