Tap into Georges River’s History

Official Launch of the Local Studies Interactive Multimedia Platform with Guest Speaker Jackie French AM

Reach out and touch history! Georges River Libraries are delighted to invite you to the official launch of our new Local Studies interactive multimedia collection with special guest, renowned Australian author, historian and wombat tamer, Jackie French AM. As Australian Children’s laureate for 2014 and 2015, and Senior Australian of the Year 2015, Jackie’s work has something to appeal to every generation. Her books for young people include Diary of a Wombat and Hitler’s Daughter, for YA/adult crossover she brought us Matilda Saga and the Miss Lily series and for adults, Let the Land Speak.

Often working with historical themes in her writing, Jackie will be sharing her passion for history and storytelling as she will be speaking about the importance of remembering and sharing our history as stories.

Be one of the first to experience our rich cultural memory in new and innovative ways as you explore the curated collections put together by our Local Studies team that highlight the people, places and stories of Georges River.

PLEASE NOTE: Attendance at our events may be digitally recorded through photographs and/or videos. These images may be used by Georges River Libraries in their publications, social media, council’s website or newspaper. Please notify staff if you do not wish to be filmed.
