Event description

6 week tap dance course with Diane Busuttil in Sydney.

  • Have you always swooned at the old Hollywood films and imagined yourself conquering the tap moves with the same ageless grace?

  • Want to get fit doing something more fun and social than a gym class?

Then this is the perfect class for you!

This 6 week tap dance course caters to beginner and intermediate levels. If you have done a little bit of tap dance or none at all, this class is appropriate for you.

The course is designed to bring you up to a proficient beginner to intermediate level and increase your technical ability and hone your rhythmic awareness. You will learn to do flaps, knobs, shuffles and pick-ups but most importantly this course is about having fun as your learn to tap dance.

Busuttil`s unique tap exercises focus on loosening and strengthening the ankle area, as well as creating many fun exercises to explore various rhythms, poly-rhythms and travelling floor combinations that develop into choreography. The main rhythmic focus will be funk, afro-cuban and jazz.

Note: This course can be done in leather shoes with a flexible leather sole if tap shoes are not available.

About Diane Busuttil:

She was a performer with the dance theatre troupe Dorky Park with Constanza Macras. Her solo tap performances received critical acclaim in Australia, the UK, France, Canada, The Netherlands as well as in Chicago and New York City, USA.

She was fortunate to train in New York and Chicago with some of the greats of tap dance. She performs with live musicians to refine her love of rhythm and musicality in movement. In 2009 she performed with DJ Nik Fit (NY) as part of the How Do You Are Festival in Bordeaux, France. From 2010 - 2015 Diane performed with drummer/percussionist Tayfun Schulzke in Berlin.
