Talking Economics - The Future of Work
Tue. 4 April 2017, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm AEST
“The world of work is in flux as a result of digitisation, the development of the digital economy and broad technological change. These processes, coupled with globalisation, population ageing and changes in work organisation, will shape the world of work and raise challenges to public policy in unknown ways.” – OECD
The nature and pace of change in Victoria’s labour market over coming decades is likely to be vastly different to the recent past. Although the future is difficult to predict, it is nonetheless important to analyse, anticipate and prepare for.
DEDJTR’s Economic Development Strategic Projects Division has undertaken an analysis of the 'Future of Work' and examined Victoria’s labour market through a new lens of ‘occupational clusters’ which maps occupations with common skill needs. This provides a unique insight into and a better understanding of mobility and vulnerability of workers across Victoria.
Vinnie Maharaj from the Economic Development Strategic Projects Division will present this work. View the summary report: Future of Work Report
