Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Ian Reid is the author of a dozen books; critically acclaimed historical fiction, non-fiction and poetry. His award-winning work has been widely anthologised and translated into several languages. A resident of Perth, he is an adjunct professor at the University of Western Australia and an emeritus professor at Curtin University. Ian Reid will join Richard Offen to discuss the factual framework of his recent novel The Mind's Own Place. Set mostly in 19th-century Perth and Fremantle, its main characters are based on actual men and women who came to the Swan River Colony, some willingly, others not, but they all left an enduring mark on the settlement.
