A week of tasters and talks to help you feel good, reduce stress and try something new. These events are part of Mental Health Week 2016 and have been supported by the Mental Health Council of Tasmania. Try one or try them all.

Yoga for Beginners - Sun 9 Oct 5.30-6.30pm - Bend, stretch and breathe yourself to a calmer mind and happier body. Children over 8 years are welcome to participate. This class is designed for people who would like to try yoga for the first time.
Creative Mindfulness - Woodbridge Mon 10 Oct 2-3.30pm - Improve your mood and enhance your wellbeing through creativity and art. Guided Nature Walk - Tues 11 oct 10-11.15am or 5.30-6.15pm - Walking outside in nature is a beautiful way to improve your mood, reduce stress and give you the opportunity to breathe some fresh air. Take a guided walk with Council’s Natural Areas Interpretation Officer to learn about Hawthorn Reserve.
Creative Mindfulness - Kingston Tues 11 Oct 1.30-3.30pm - Improve your mood and enhance your wellbeing through creativity and art. Spend some time with a local artist, creating art in a mindful way. Visit the Anglicare Art Exhibition at the Community Centre.
Building Resilience in Children - Tues 11 Oct 7-8.30pm - Support your child to develop their inner strengths such as self-control, self-awareness, confidence and responsibility. Resilience is the ability to navigate life's challenges and find ways to bounce back and thrive. Resilient children can persevere through challenges; delay gratification and control impulses. Learn the importance of imperfection, risk-taking and embracing mistakes; the role of stress; encourage independence and independent thinking and optimism. How Food affects your Mood - Wed 12 Oct 2.30-4.30pm - Come along to the Kingston Produce Market for an afternoon of healthy eating demos with our resident chefs, listen to a dietitian (3.30-4pm) discuss the links between diet, mood and mental health and try some fun and healthy snacks. Find the Laughter - Woodbridge Thurs 13 oct 12.30-1.30pm & Kingston 5.30-6.30pm - Laughter yoga (Hasyayoga) is a practice involving prolonged voluntary laughter. It is based on the belief that voluntary laughter provides the same physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter. Laughter yoga is done in groups, with eye contact and playfulness between participants.

Sleep Better Naturally - Sat 15 Oct 10am-12.15pm -If you are having trouble falling asleep, staying asleep or waking too early, there may be some tips you will learn to help you to drift off to sleep more easily and sleep longer and more deeply. Session will be run by UTAS Psychology Department.
