Learn about optimising your health through the good nutrition!

About this event

Join us for this FREE 6 week series on how to take charge of your health with good nutrition!

Each week we will cover a different topic so feel free to join in over all 6 weeks, or pick and choose those weeks that interest you. Bookings are required so please register for each sessions via our Eventbrite page.

Sessions are delivered by qualified, local nutritionist, Carrie Reedy. Carrie takes a Functional Nutrition approach to healthcare to identify and address the underlying imbalances in the body which often contribute to the signs and symptoms of dysfunction. You can find out more about Carrie by going to: https://carriereedy.com/

A full list of topics with dates are detailed below:

Session 1 – The role nutrition plays in optimising our health (Weds 20 Oct)

During this session we will explore a framework that help us understand the biochemical drivers that impact our health, and the way these can be positively impacted through healthy food choices. We will also discuss readiness for change and how to take the first steps into using our food choices to improve our long-term health.

Session 2 – How to formulate a healthy and nutritious eating plan (Weds 27 Oct)

During this session we will talk about what constitutes a healthy diet, how meal planning can assist with making shopping and meal preparation easier, and ultimately help us make better food choices.

Session 3 – The role nutrition plays in optimising our gut health, and why the state of our gastrointestinal tract is one of the keys to improved health (Weds 3 Nov)

During this session we will talk about the role the microbes that live in our gastrointestinal tract play in our long-term health. We will also discuss how our food choices can impact the levels and function of these microbes, and the best way to use food to support a healthy gastrointestinal tract.

Session 4 – The role blood sugar plays in our health, and how to make healthy food choices to optimise blood sugar balance (Weds 10 Nov)

During this session we will take a deeper dive into healthy eating practices that will support good blood sugar balance and why this is important in the context of our overall health, especially as we get older.

Session 5 – The role lifestyle factors play in our long-term health (Weds 17 Nov)

During this session we will discuss lifestyle factors such as sleep, stress management and hydration, specifically considering this in the context of how good nutrition can positively impact our level of stress resilience and help improve sleep, which then has a flow on impact on our ability to make better food choices.

Session 6 – Pulling together all we have learned and applying it to our own health goals (Weds 24 Nov)

During this session we will pull together practices from all previous sessions and discuss how best to apply these practices to support specific health concerns of the group, and how to create a lifestyle that will best support healthy ageing and longevity.
