Tackling Poverty and Disadvantage through Data

About this event

Tackling Poverty and Disadvantage through Data Roundtable

The Breaking Down Barriers roundtables are an opportunity to discuss ideas and data that will allow us to better understand and tackle the critical issues surrounding disadvantage with a focus on the following topics:

  • The roles of the community and community services
  • Youth and the transition from high school to further education and/or employment
  • Social housing and the services provided to address housing insecurity

In this series of roundtables, we are seeking your input into the development of the Breaking Down Barriers Shared Data Environment that will curate data from a range of sources to enable deep analysis of core issues and the test ideas to address community, household and individual poverty. Access to this environment will be available to researchers and analysts across Australia.

Our discussion at the roundtables will focus on the burning and emerging challenges that affect entry into or exit from disadvantage. Within the context of understanding these challenges, we will discuss the opportunities and constraints on the data that exist (or emerging) that can be added to the Breaking Down Barriers Shared Data Environment.

We hope you can join us for an in-depth discussion on core policy issues and how we can best work together to build an evidence base that will bring about meaningful change in Australia.
