Tackling Policy Innovation with Human Centred Design
Event Information
About this Event
Many of the problems we are striving to solve can be messy and complex. Using policy approaches to solve these challenges shouldn’t be one size fits all. We need to make sure we are delivering for our stakeholders and considering unintended consequences.
You can achieve strategy, policy and service innovation using creative approaches from human centred and design thinking practices.
This masterclass is an interactive session where you will complete a full cycle of a design thinking approach to a challenge and be exposed to additional tools that can be used from a human centred approach.
We will explore how this approach can provide benefits to your work with both internal and external stakeholders, providing:
- greater transparency
- multiple engagement opportunities
- building additional champions for your policy or project
- lower risk for implementing new ideas
- opportunities for co-design for enhanced policy and project outcomes.
At the end of this masterclass, you will be taking back to your organisation:
- Practical applications for human centred design tools for innovation in the workplace
- How to effectively incorporate stakeholder engagement into policy design, not just as a feedback tool
- How to experiment and iterate on your ideas effectively
- How to create an environment of collaboration in your workplace
This masterclass will be facilitated by Belinda Comninos, an experienced practitioner in design thinking for policy development and Belinda Jackson, a policy and project innovator.
This is one of four sessions as part of our Summer Masterclasses Series. View all our sessions here.
