Event description

Description

Trying to make an impact as an individual on an issue as overwhelming as climate change can feel daunting and futile. Be empowered when you learn how everyone has a role to play, in this galvanising forum featuring two passionate climate warriors. Seasoned campaigner and author Anna Rose and Joseph Zane Sikulu, 350.org's Pacific Campaigner, discuss their frontline experiences in climate change advocacy, community engagement and government action.

Bring your questions about effecting climate change on a micro and macro level!

ABOUT ANNA ROSE, author and climate change campaigner
Anna Rose is author of the book Madlands: A Journey to Change the Mind of a Climate Sceptic and co-starred in the ABC documentary ‘I Can Change Your Mind on Climate Change’. Anna previously convened the Vice-Chancellor’s course in Leadership & Influence at the Australian National University. She is both a former Churchill Fellow and former Myer Foundation Innovation Fellow, and a recipient of the Sierra Club’s Earthcare award for her services to international environmental protection. Anna was the Australian Geographic Society’s Conservationist of the Year 2015 and a finalist in the Australian of the Year Awards the same year.
Anna ran Earth Hour with WWF-Australia and before that co-founded the Australian Youth Climate Coalition whilst she was at University. She is currently strategic projects officer at Farmers for Climate Action.

ABOUT JOSEPH ZANE SIKULU, 350.org Pacific Campaigner
Joseph’s family home is on Tongatapu, the main island of Tonga. His understanding of climate justice and climate change action emerges from the fundamental imperative to protect his family and home. As 350.0rg’s Pacific Campaigner, he brings the international organisation’s aims of channelling money away from dirty energy, building a powerful, diverse movement, supporting people and communities to participate in peaceful resistance and confront fossil fuel projects with the climate impacts, to the Pacific context.
