Event description

Description

Governments worldwide have been urged to tackle physical inactivity as a matter of priority and commit to multifaceted policies and programs that address the socio-ecological determinants of physical inactivity. A systems approach, engaging across diverse sectors in an integrated and coordinated manner is essential for effective action. However, evidence about how to operationalise a systems approach to addressing public health problems is still in its infancy.

In this seminar, Prof Harry Rutter from the UK will share his experience moving systems approaches beyond the theoretical into the real world. He will present case studies to illustrate how systems approaches have been operationalised in the UK, to tackle complex public health issues of physical inactivity and obesity, including the processes and stakeholders involved, actions taken, and lessons gained.
