Syrup & Great Sage
Event Information
About this Event
The Harbour Agency is proud to present Syrup + Great Sage Live from the Brightside, Friday January 8th with very special guests, Wigz.
SYRUP:
Syrup is the funk laden musical project of childhood friends Harry Pratt and Henry Anderson. In a stage of redefinition, the duo have moved further down the path of nostalgia with references to old-school disco utilising the luxuries of modern production. ‘Sun’ was the duo’s first foray into self production and a bold move into their now increasingly distinct sound. “Sun is one of those tracks that fills you up with goodness. It’s pure sunshine and instantly takes you off to summertime” (AAA Backstage). The duo followed up this release with “fun and funky” (NME) single, ‘Turn’ which garnered them some airtime on Triple J and Triple J Unearthed.
In the live music world Syrup transforms into a 3 piece, where they add live drums at the hands of Lachlan Bambach. A Syrup show is a music consumer's oasis with unreleased compositions, long builds, deep driving rhythms, swirling synths and chalky guitars all anchored by Henry Anderson’s baritone. A show of viscerality, breathe it in, breathe it out, slow it down, yet tangle with the rush and experience the release - that’s Syrup.
GREAT SAGE:
Great Sage was formed late in 2018, and is lead by the creative intelligence of Troy Doolan (of First Beige). Together with Padraig Wilson and monozygotic twins Jake and Aaron Smeal, Doolan writes, performs and carefully curates the audio and visual experience that is/of Great Sage. With an exceptional ability to capture an audience through a compelling and imaginative live performance, Great Sage is more than just the music. Fans of Mildlife, Daft Punk and Justice will enjoy Great Sage, whose influences range from French House through to jazz, dance electronica and psych.
