Description

Business Connect Logo

For anyone working for themselves in the arts or creative industries.

Marketing is one of the most despised and least understood aspects of running a creative business and being an arts entrepreneur. This fun and practical workshop explores the mystery behind the marketing magic: devising strategy, making measurements and meeting goals. We’ll also examine:

  • the key elements of a successful marketing campaign
  • the strategy behind your website
  • how to stay on top of social media
  • the myth of word of mouth… and much more!

What do I get?

All participants of this workshop also receive:

  • Printed materials to help in class;
  • Lifetime access to a dedicated Marketing Strategy dropbox folder full of additional resources and help;
  • Access to a website full of links and resources to help them get ahead in their creative business.

The workshop is relaxed and informal, you can ask all the questions you’ve never been able to ask before, and participants will also be given ample opportunity to network and get to know each other.

You also get free advice!

All participants are entitled to 4 x 1 hour CHAT sessions, with a creative industries business advisor, 100% subsidised by Business Connect and therefore at no cost to you (no, there’s no catch!).

Who should enrol?

This workshop is ideal for freelancers, small creative businesses and arts organisations. It’s also relevant no matter what your profession – filmmakers, writers, designers, visual artists, musicians, composers, dancers, performers – everyone can benefit from a guide to marketing strategy.

Who is Presenting?

Business advisor and creative industries expert Monica Davidson from the Creative Plus Business Group. Monica is a writer and filmmaker by trade who learned how to run a successful creative business and now shares that knowledge with others. In her workshops Monica discusses her own experiences, and shares examples from the 500-plus people she has mentored through the process of starting and building their creative businesses.

Presented by Creative Plus Business and Business Connect.

FAQs

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

This event is open to all ages – but be warned, we are fans of ‘colourful’ (M rated) language!

What's the address again?

We are in DARLINGHURST, not Paddington! Between Crown and Riley streets, opposite the ANZ bank.

Can I park? Should I drive?

Street parking is very limited. What little is available is timed and costs roughly $4.50 per hour. There is a Wilson parking station nearby at 70 Riley Street which is more reasonable - there is a flat rate on weeknights and weekends. It's about 10 minutes walk from our location.

What are my public transport options getting to the event?

BY TRAIN: The closest railway station is Museum, and the venue is a short walk up Oxford Street. BY BUS: All of the Oxford Street buses go past our building and will drop you at the stop near the corner of Crown Street (just walk back down the hill). The 311, 440 and the M10 also come from Central.

Is this an accessible event?

Our workshops space is accessible via the front door entry, and then take the lift to Level 1. There is an accessible toilet on level 1 as well - sadly there is no reserved parking nearby.

Will I get fed?

We offer unlimited tea, coffee and good bikkies throughout the day. We don't offer lunch, but there are plenty of great places nearby to grab something tasty. You'll get a 15 inute break for our short courses and 45-60 minutes for lunch for a full day course.

Do you offer concessions?

No. Our prices are set due to our relationship with NSW Department of Industry and Business Connect - remember, for that price you also get 4 hours of additional business advice! However, feel free to get in touch if you’re very strapped for cash and we’ll see what we can do.

What's with the Dropbox?

All our workshops offer lifetime access to a Dropbox folder after the event, which will contain more resources and helpful material to mazimise your trainng with us. If you're not very technological, ask your facilitator about the Dropbox or visit the website here: https://www.dropbox.com/help

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

You can give your ticket to someone else to use, but there will be no transfers to another workshop if you can't attend. However, if you let us know WELL in advance if you can’t attend, we’ll try and pop you in another workshop. There is a refund policy up to 1 day before the workshop commences.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Please email hello@creativeplusbusiness.com or call the office on 02 8091 2082.
