Event description

Description

Grants are incredibly competitive, and the difference between a winning project and not being chosen is sometimes miniscule. Once you’ve found the grant you want, and submitted your application – what next? What if you don’t get it – and what if you do?

This practical half-day presentation builds on Grant Writing 1 – The Start and helps creative professionals become “grant savvy”. You’ll learn to develop an eye for projects and ideas that will develop your career, build your capacity and deliver arts services in your community.

The workshop also covers:

  • How to understand different types of grants to suit different projects and ideas, including tips for philanthropic grants;
  • Real-life examples of successful and unsuccessful grant applications to inform your writing;
  • Understanding when to accept an opportunity and what to turn down;
  • How to use collateral to support a grant application;
  • Continuing your grant researching and writing strategy as a regular part of your practice;
  • Preparing for Grant Success;
  • Other revenue strategies to help bring an idea to life.

If you need help with the basic of grant writing, including tips and trips on not stuffing it up, enrol in Grant Writing 1 - The Start on Saturday 12th August at 10am.

What do I get?

All participants of this workshop also receive:

  • Printed materials to help in class;
  • Lifetime access to a dedicated Grant Writing dropbox folder full of additional resources and help;
  • Access to a webpage full of links and resources to help them get ahead in their creative business;
  • The chance to organise additional professional support for your grant or tender application.

The workshop is relaxed and informal, you can ask all the questions you’ve never been able to ask before, and participants will also be given ample opportunity to network and get to know each other.

You also get free advice!

All NSW participants are entitled to 4 x 1 hour CHAT sessions, with a creative industries business advisor, 100% subsidised by Business Connect and therefore at no cost to you (no, there’s no catch!).

Who should enrol?

Creative people looking for a grant or revenue strategy that helps them with their ideas and developing their careers. This workshop is ideal for recent graduates, freelancers and anyone struggling with the grant-writing aspects of their creativity. You’re welcome to attend regardless of your creative practice or stage of professionalism.

FAQs

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

This event is open to all ages – but be warned, Monica is a fan of ‘colourful’ language!

What's the address again?

We are in DARLINGHURST, not Paddington! Between Crown and Riley streets, opposite the ANZ bank.

Can I park? Should I drive?

Street parking is very limited. What little is available is timed and costs roughly $4.50 per hour. There is a Wilson parking station nearby at 70 Riley Street which is more reasonable - the flat rate is $15 per day on weekends. It's about 10 minutes walk from our location.

What are my public transport options getting to the event?

BY TRAIN: The closest railway station is Museum, and the venue is a short walk up Oxford Street. BY BUS: All of the Oxford Street buses go past our building and will drop you at the nearest stop near the corner of Crown Street. The 440 and the M10 also come from Central.

Do you offer concessions?

No. Our prices are set due to our relationship with NSW Department of Industry and Business Connect - remember, for that price you also get 4 hours of additional business advice! However, feel free to get in touch if you’re very strapped for cash and we’ll see what we can do.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

You can give your ticket to someone else to use, but there will be no refunds if you can't attend. Let us know in advance if you can’t attend and we’ll try and pop you in another workshop. There is a refund policy up to 1 day before the workshop commences.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Please email hello@creativeplusbusiness.com or call the office on 02 8091 2082.
