Coinciding with the 23rd annual exhibition of Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi the Sydney Sculpture Conference will explore the significance of site when creating, curating and commissioning sculpture.

Presenting in partnership with Jupiter Artland, an award-winning contemporary sculpture park located just outside Edinburgh in Scotland, the conference aims to develop collaborative partnerships that foster creative ideas exchange between local, national and international sculpture and art communities; while raising the profile, interest, and awareness of sculpture across Australia.

Speakers include:

  • Keynote Address : Claire Feeley - Head of Exhibitions, Jupiter Artland (Scotland, UK)

  • Welcome Address: The Hon Paul Fletcher MP, Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts

  • Dr Ken Mulvaney - Principal Advisor Aboriginal Cultural Heritage, Rio Tinto (WA)

  • Geoffrey Edwards - Artistic Advisor, Point Leo Estate Sculpture Park (VIC)

  • Jed Long & Juan Pablo - Cave Urban, Artist Collective (Sydney)

  • Philip Spelman - Artist (ACT)

  • Louise Paramor - Artist (VIC)

Guided Walking Tours - Wednesday 30 October

We are offering an optional ‘day two’ of the conference on 30 October which will feature two walking tours to provide further opportunities for delegates to explore themes and continue discussions that arise during the conference. The details are as follows:

  • Walking Tour: Sydney's Significant Public Artworks
    9.30am - 11.30am
    Cost: $30 per person
    Meet outside of the Art Gallery of NSW

The tour will include works by artists such as Henry Moore OM CH FBA, Brett Whiteley AO, Jenny Holzer, Janet Laurence & Fiona Foley, Daphne Mayo, Anne Graham, James Angus, Harry Seidler AC OBE, Jimmie Durham, Bert Flugelman and many more.

  • Walking Tour: Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2019
    3.00pm - 4.30pm
    Cost: $30 per person
    Meet in Tamarama Park
    N.B. The coastal path has several stairs and uneven ground.

The tour will discuss a selected number of works exhibited by Australian and International artists along the Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk as part of Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2019. N.B the coastal walk has several steps.
