Description

Course Aim:

The aim of the course is to enhance general anatomical knowledge for dentists who wish to perform minor oral surgery and provide advanced local anaesthesia techniques.

This course is designed to give a central anatomical orientation for practitioners who perform procedures including:

· General surgical extraction

· Basic implant surgery

· Simple Grafting procedure

· Third molar extractions

Complications of oral surgery; prevention and early recognition

This course would suit the novice and dental practitioners experienced in basic oral surgical procedures

Course Program:

There will be a series of lectures and demonstrations combined with hands on surgical dissections of fresh frozen specimens to simulate clinical presentations. The course will run from 8am till 4:30 pm.

20 participants will be provided with 10 full cephalus specimens.

At the end of the intensive dissection course participants will receive certificates of participation.

Lecture topics include:

· Cranial fossa

· Cephalometrics

· Air sinuses

· Cavernous sinus and facial infections

· Nasal cavity

· Temporalis

· TMJ

· Parotid gland

· Facial nerve

· Submandibular triangle

· Anterior neck

· Facial artery

· Infratemporal fossa

· Safe exposure of mental nerve

· Floor of the mouth

· Inferior alveolar nerve

· Lingual nerve

· Maxillary nerve branches
