Description

Please join us at the AFS Intercultural Learning Workshop

Join with Volunteers, Educators, Host Families, and Friends of AFS to learn more about Intercultural Learning (ICL). This workshop is a part of the AFS Intercultural Link Learning Program, an AFS International network-wide training and assessment program designed to help AFS Volunteers and Staff become more interculturally competent.

ICL is at the heart of our programs and it differentiates AFS as a learning organisation. A key goal of AFS is that all 50,000 AFS volunteers from every corner of the world will complete this workshop.

Participants at the workshop will be able to:

  • Build awareness of the AFS Educational Goals
  • Develop a common language and shared understanding around the fundamentals of ICL
  • Apply the ICL knowledge to your AFS role and other areas of your life.

Topics covered include:

  • Intercultural communication
  • Concepts and dimensions of culture
  • Tools for suspending judgement
  • Stereotypes and generalisations
  • Cultural adaptation
  • Linking ICL to our realities.

Lunch provided (please advise of any special dietary requirements)

When: Sunday 12th of November from 10:00am-3.30pm

Where: AFS Intercultural Programs, level 4/418A Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills.
