Description

The idea of good food as the foundation for good health is not a new one. Many ancient cultures recognised and adhered to the concept of ‘food as medicine’ and yet we seem to have lost this notion in present day life.

Our food environments in the 21st century are littered with pre-packaged and processed foods, takeaway and fast food with little or no nutritional value. Many believe we are eating ourselves sick.

So how can we reclaim the idea of food as medicine, and is it as potent as many dietitian claim? Can food really help us stay well and even ward off diseases like diabetes, dementia, cancer and dental or cardiovascular disease?

Hear from our panel of experts from across the University of Sydney’s health faculties.
