In this Seminar, Understanding dog psychology and behaviour for a better relationship with your dog, you will learn how to quickly and effectively gain your dogs attention and respect. Learn how to appropriately interact with and understand your dog's behaviour in any situation, and understand why obedience is so important as is improved control in social and home environments.

Meet one of Sydney’s most experienced dog trainers, behaviourists, educators and speakers. With 35 years of hands-on experience working with dogs and their owners, you will benefit from his intimate knowledge and study of the K9 family structure and their behaviour in the wild and their natural habitat. We will discuss the minor differences between our domesticated dogs and their primal ancestors, the Canis Lupus, the Wolf.

The seminar will address the following key topics:

1 Appropriate human interaction with your dog at home, in the park or while walking on the lead.

2 How to understand your dog's needs; they have choices that we need to consider.

3 How to teach your puppy and/or dog appropriate social skill and good manners to avoid misbehaviour at home, in the park, and when interacting with other dogs.

4 How to teach your puppy and/or dog to appropriately meet and greet approaching dogs (while on a walk).

5 Mental simulation exercises and games to teach your dog to be calm and to use their intelligence rather than their excitement.

6 How to recognise and change nuisance or learnt behaviours (barking at the door bell, jumping up on people, barking at the backyard fence when someone passes by, destructive behaviour, lunging at other dogs, crossing boundaries, separation anxiety, etc).

7 Species-appropriate diet and ongoing maintenance for optimum health and longevity.

8 Training sessions with Service Dog Anouk, to demonstrate behaviour correction and appropriate handling and control.
