Description

Sydney Cycling Club Ride for a Reason 2019/2020

Going for Broke!

POSTPONED - NEW DATE TO BE CONFIRMED

Ride for a Reason (R4R) is still heading for Broke in the beautiful Hunter Valley, but a bit later than planned - originally due to the bushfires and now the COVID-19 pandemic. We have now decided to postpone until at least August/September 2020 when hopefully life will be back to normal again.

R4R is a 165k ride through spectacular scenery, starting at Balls Head Rd, Waverton, and finishing at the Nightingale Wines vineyard where you will be rewarded with a special gourmet Finish Feast!

Since 2007, SCC’s annual Ride for a Reason (R4R) has raised over $425,000 for a variety of wonderful charities and causes. And this year, we are happy once again to support Freedom Wheels, a unique charity creating special bicycles to allow disabled kids, and now adults too, to enjoy what you love - ride a bike! What better charity can a cycling club support!

R4R is open to all experienced cyclists. It is organised by volunteer members of Sydney CC and is neither a mass ride nor a race; it's a safe and enjoyable ride with bunches of around 10-15 riders each, grouped according to ability. There are a number of refreshment stops along the way, and each bunch has its own Ride Captain and support vehicle to carry your bags and supplies for the Ride.

Once registered you are very welcome to join our R4R Sunday training rides leading up to the event - please contact events@sydneycyclingclub.org.au for our training schedule.

Registration

Entry fee: includes your gourmet Finish Feast at Nightingale Wines, is $85.00 for Cycling Australia (CA) members with insurance provided by CA as a benefit of membership.

Non-CA members need to pay an additional $11.50 insurance fee for the event (Bicycle NSW membership is not applicable).

Getting home: You can also book a special minibus ticket ($30 pp) for your return trip to Sydney, although we encourage you to invite your partners and friends to join you in the Hunter and make a weekend of it. Our great supporters BikeBug will be providing transport for our bikes home while we relax in the bus.

Extras: you can also reserve extra places for friends at our post-ride Finish Feast at Nightingale Wines for $30 pp.

Jersey
We have designed a stunning new 2019/20 R4R jersey, which is optional to purchase (you will be advised of details once registered), however, you are also welcome to wear last year's R4R jersey or your SCC Club jersey.

Fundraising
Our Reason for riding is to raise money for Freedom Wheels. You can set up your own fundraising page via https://www.mycause.com.au/events/2019ride4areason, then invite your family, friends and work colleagues to support you.

Ride Guide
Prior to event day you will be provided with a a Ride Guide containing all relevant information about the Ride and Finish Feast. It will be sent to the email address you have provided in your registration process.
