About the training

Gain the skills you need to create and publish compelling content. This hands-on, one-day training course is led by skilled facilitators. You'll learn how to:

  • create events or news articles
  • review and publish a page
  • create an album and add it to the gallery
  • upload newsletters, create links
  • understand the workflow process.




What to expect

The course will be a full day of training with catering provided. It will begin promptly at 9.00am and finish at 4.30pm. Please arrive at reception at Level 13, Margaret Street at least 20 minutes early to sign in, use the facilities, set up your laptop, log on, and access the WiFi.



What to bring:

  • proof of registration - printed ticket or show your ticket in the Eventbrite app on your phone
  • training manual
  • laptop - a school or personal laptop for each trainee. Sharing laptops is not encouraged. NOTE: If you're bringing a school laptop, you will need to check that you can log in to it at your school before bringing it to training. We recommend that you have the latest version of Google Chrome installed.
  • images - choose five images and some sample text loaded onto your laptop. This can be as little as a couple of paragraphs from anywhere you choose or it can be text you’ve created after downloading the templates we’ve created as a guide. See templates.
  • laptop charger/mouse/mouse mat
  • login details for your laptop and the DoE portal.

Your questions

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

  • The venue is a short walk from Wynyard train station. Use Trip Planner to check your travel options.
  • No dedicated parking is provided. There are numerous parking stations in Sydney CBD.

Does the venue have accessible facilities for people with disabilities?

Yes.

Do I need a proof of registration on the day?

Yes, you must register your attendance through Eventbrite and bring a printed ticket or show your ticket in the Eventbrite app on your phone.

Is my registration ticket transferrable?

Yes - to an author who also works on your school website. To transfer your training place to another website author, just log in to Eventbrite, go to the Tickets page, and locate your order. Select your order to view order details. Select 'Edit' to transfer the ticket to the new attendee, and select 'Send confirmation email to new attendee'.

Note that staff that have not worked on a website before may find the course content challenging.

How do I cancel my registration?

Log in to Eventbrite, go to the Tickets page, and locate your order. Select your order to view order details. Select "Cancel Order" to cancel your registration.

Is there accommodation available at the venue?

No. There are numerous accommodation options available in Sydney city centre. Please make your own arrangements.
