Come and meet your local beekeepers for the Sydney Bee Club Annual Christmas Honey Market and Honey Tasting.
Saturday 10th December. 11am-12.00
Location: We will be set up at Randwick Community Centre, outdoors by the picnic area (behind the childrens playground).
Everyone is welcome to come along and try a variety of local honeys (these make a special and unique christmas present) or try some locally made beeswax products such as candles, balm, polish.
If you are a Sydney Bee Club member and would like to sell your honey/beeswax or other produce, or you'd like to bring a jar of your honey to compare the different honey tastes around Sydney, you are most welcome (please come a little earlier to set up). Everyone is welcome to come along (members, guests, general public). We are currently looking for a few people who might be able to bring along fold out tables, card table/trestle tables. If you have one or have any questions, please let us know: email@example.com
Also at the event will be one of our committee members, Vera, who has set up Coogee Bees for Congo - where she sells her honey for emergency medicine and education in Congo. Come and buy some of her honey and support this great cause. Details of her hand up Congo drive, click here.
The grounds of the Randwick Community Garden are well worth a visit. They have been designed with permaculture principles. The Sydney Bee Club looks after honey bee hives there and there are also native stingless bee hives set up on Randwick's (now award winning) Habitat Trail which is developing and growing well and is being used for education of school groups and a demonstration space.
The Christmas Honey Market and Honey tasting is a free event.
Members and aspiring beekeepers may be interested in the apiary morning which is happening from 9-11am before the market. Details on this event here.
