Event description

Description

Rangitoto here we come! Two great activities… one awesome event!

ONE… We love our coasts and harbours, so it’s time to roll up ya sleeves and get stuck in to help keep them beautiful : )

TWO… Then “lets get physical” (haha, sing along 80’s kids), tick off a challenge for 2019, conquer a volcano and Climb To The Top of the iconic Rangitoto Island.

Simply hanging out with a bunch of awesome kiwi's – a choice day to highlight the importance of good physical and mental wellbeing, have a little adventure and a bita fun along the way.

Let's go!

FAQs

What’s the plan?

Here’s the timeline for your day full of awesomesauce.

7.30am-8.00am – We meet at Sustainable Coastlines, check in, get your goodie bag, instructions and ferry ticket.

8.00am - Sustainable Coastlines education talk / workshop.

8.45am (sharp) - We all walk to the Downtown Ferry Terminal - 139 Quay Street, Auckland

9.15am - Ferry departs sharply at 9.15am, don’t miss it, it’s up to you : )

10.00am - Briefing on the island and start Sustainable Coastlines clean-up.

11.30am – Stop for a break, have some lunch and a refreshment.

12.00pm – Say hello again, dust off your shoes and start climbing to the top.

2.00pm-2.30pm – Waahoo, you did it. Meet at the top, time for a photo.

2.30pm – Event done. You are free to make your way back down, downhill is faster, you’ll have one hour 30 minutes to make the 4pm ferry, OR you are free to explore and catch the last ferry at 5pm… don’t miss the last ferry, it’s your responsibility.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

We will meet at Sustainable Coastlines (Flagship), 55 Madden Street, Wynyard Quarter, Auckland. There is public parking available in Auckland CBD at your cost, allow until at least 5pm. Alternatively public transport is always a great option.

How do I get from Sustainable Coastlines to the Ferry?

We suggest walking, it’s easy and flat. It is a 1.3km walk, approx. 16min.

What does my ticket fee cover?

Your ticket covers the return ferry ticket to Rangitoto Island, goodie bag, both events... even tho it's free to climb to the top of Rangitoto, we are going to give you a sweet event bib. The profit moolah from the event will be given to Sustainable Coastline as sponsorship to help them continue to do their awesome work.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

It is a good idea to bring some extra water, sun screen and food for the day as there is nothing available on Rangitoto Island. Wear sensible, covered footware to get active and safely navigate around uneven, rough ground. You never know what the weather might do, so come prepared for sun, wind, rain and snow, haha ok, maybe not the snow.

Where can I contact the organisers with any questions?

You can use the contact organiser buttons on the right hand side to get in touch. Sooner the better - questions sent a week before won't get a look in as we will be crazy cray busy : ) or Anthony@brandstorm.nz

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes you need to print your Eventbrite ticket, this will be exchanged at check-in for a ferry ticket to Rangitoto Island.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes, we don't have any age restrictions and aim to be family friendly. But remember, you are responsible for any minors you bring. Please be mindful that the first part of the day, “the clean up” might have some uneven and rough territory involved.

Are there an age limits to enter the event?

Nope, this is a family friendly event. Fun for young and “old..er”… haha Dad, that’s you : )

Is it a race?

Nope. Well only if you want to. Both Sustainable Coastlines clean up and Climb To The Top are to be enjoyed at your pace. We are here to encourage positive activity, hang out with some cool kids and share your stories, create a proactive community spirit and bring awareness to good physical and mental wellbeing by doing some choice stuff : )
