Practical tips on how to have an environmentally sustainable Christmas & save money

About this Event

Christmas can be an expensive time with lots of leftovers and waste! Come along to this workshop to get some practical ideas on how to have a more Sustainable Christmas & save money. We'll cover:

Giftwrapping – learn about Furoshiki gift wrapping, the art of wrapping gifts with reusable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly cloth – it’s easy and beautiful. No sticky tape, single-use plastic or paper necessary.

Buying Gifts & Alternative Gift Ideas– consider packaging when shopping and using reuseable shopping bags. There’ll also be a range of plastic alternatives on display for the plastic free kitchen & bathroom. There'll also be locally made beeswax wraps & preserves for sale.

Reduce Food & Catering Waste – learn some great tips for reducing food waste and sourcing reuseable or biodegradable plates & platters and other plastic free & storage options

How to dispose of Xmas Waste & Leftovers – and when all the feasting & celebrations are over, a reminder of how to deal with waste types & recycling options

(If you have a scarf, bring it along to practice wrapping one of your Christmas gifts)

Come along for a fun morning! Morning tea provided.

COVID Safe Plan

MCSL has a Covid Safe plan. Workshops are restricted to 12 adults in the venue room. Social distancing requirements will be observed. All equipment will be sanitised before and after each workshop. Hand sanitiser and hand washing facilities will be provided.

This sustainable workshops is funded by Campbelltown City Council with the goal of increasing environmental stewardship within the Campbelltown community.
